EM Navigation: Electro-Magnetic Measurement Technology

Electromagnetic instruments have the advantage that the measurement technology can be located in the tip of the instruments and in this case the tip can be precisely navigated even if the instruments are bent. There are also no visibility problems (line-of-sight) during the procedures. The instruments are visible in the entire working area with comparable accuracy. Bendable instruments can be made of Nitinol and instruments with several coils, which allow the shape of the bent instruments to be recorded. EM instruments require a cable plug connection and are sensitive to certain materials and electromagnetic fields of motors and RF devices. The instruments also always have a limited lifetime of currently less than 100 reprocessing cycles.
